Mexican Mafia Members Plead Guilty In Court

The U.S. Attorney's Office Western District of Texas says eight Hondo members of the Mexican Mafia pleaded guilty to various charges in federal court Friday.  These men were rounded up in October of 2011.  Assistant US Attorney David Shearer confirms the following charges and sentences: --Paul Anthony Sanchez, considered by the feds to be the Lieutenant out in the Hondo part of the organization, received got 260 months (21 years) after pleading guilty on Count 1 (Hobbs extortion conspiracy) and Count 2 (drug conspiracy). --Eduardo Garcia received 260 months (21 years) after pleading guilty to Count 1 and 2, plus Count 6 (felon in possession of firearms.  We're told he had a gun and a bulletproof vest). --Joseph Correa received 180 months (15 years) when he pleaded guilty to Counts 1 and 2, plus Count 7 (felon in possession of firearms.  Shearer told News 4 WOAI Correa had 6 firearms and a bulletproof vest). --Jason Ryan Gonzales received 60 months

Nov 17, 2012 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's media should refrain from using the word 'mafia' in relation to the stocks market, because no such organized movement exists, Securities Exchange Commission chairman Nalaka Godahewa said. Godahewa told reporters during a media conference this week, that rather than the stock market players, the 'mafia' was involved in 'negative' media reports aimed at bringing the market down.    Godahewa was appointed to the position by the state in controversial circumstances after the previous boss, who was cracking down hard on stock market fraud resigned saying he was under pressure. APPMA urges CCP to take notice of 'paper mafia'

All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association (APPMA) appealed to the Competition Commission of Pakistan to divert its attention towards the paper mafia that is playing havoc with the traders. In a statement issued here on Friday, the leader of APPMA Businessmen Group Khamis Saeed Butt and Vice President Khawaja Nadeem Saeed Wayeen said that only because of high prices of paper, education is getting out of common man's reach. They also sought government intervention for a cut in paper prices that are too high and hitting hard the businessmen attached with this business. They said that government would have to take stringent action against paper mafia. They alleged that paper millers have made a cartel and they should be taken to task.
